Q & A

What is Move To Improve SCI?

Move To Improve SCI is a Movement Coaching Company for people with spinal cord injury, with each person's program will vary based on their specific needs analysis.

What is Movement Coaching?

Our Movement Coaching for SCI is divided into two primary interconnected approaches of:

-            Strength and Conditioning Training for enhancing overall movement.

-            Mobility Training for manual wheelchair users.

What areas do M2I focus on?

Our two approaches focus on five fundamental areas:

1.       Corrective exercises

2.       Range of motion exercises

3.       Strength training, conditioning, and coordination exercises

4.       Transfers

5.       Wheelchair Self-propulsion

How can M2I help me?

Our goal is to create for our clients:

a.       Robust, resilient, and flexible shoulders.

b.       Increased strength and endurance.

c.       Increased overall health and wellness.

d.       Minimized healthcare expenses and medication intake.

e.       Increased sense of independence and confidence with their movements.

How are the results achieved?

The results come about through using specific physical movements/activities targeted at:

-            Conditioning muscles and joints.

-            Developing a strong cardiovascular system.

-            Developing a strong respiratory system.

-            Improving posture.

-            Reducing muscular imbalances

How is M2I different?

Our training has been developed (by wheelchair users) within a framework that takes into consideration the uniqueness of physical training while also using a wheelchair and the complex issues caused by muscular impairment due to spinal cord injury.

How do I get started?

Improving your health is not a sprint. It is a lifelong process. Progress comes from compounded incremental gains. Therefore, it is imperative to start in a sustainable manner.

For newcomers to physical training, it makes sense to take on an “Experimental Mindset”. Commit to physical training as a personal experiment to determine how it makes you feel. Rather than overwhelming yourself with a long term commitment, commit to three months, or 12 weeks, and see how you're progressing. Then decide if you want to continue based on your results. We suspect you'll be hooked.

For long time fitness practitioners and athletes, your subscription program will be based on your prior experience and current needs analysis. We also offer performance-based programs which are sport-specific which may work well for you.
